متن کاملDiffusion-induced decoherence of stored optical vortices
We study the coherence properties of optical vortices stored in atomic ensembles. In the presence of thermal diffusion, the topological nature of stored optical vortices is found not to guarantee slow decoherence. Instead the stored vortex state’s decoherence is surprisingly larger than the stored Gaussian mode. Furthermore, calculation of the coherence factor shows that the center of the store...
متن کاملBreather-induced anomalous charge diffusion.
We present results on the diffusive motion of a charge interacting with the nonlinear dynamics of a thermalized underlying lattice. Signatures of anomalous diffusive properties are found at relatively high temperatures, where highly nonlinear excitations are present. A sublinear diffusion and a plateau appear before the standard long-time diffusion during the evolution of the mean-squared displ...
متن کاملAnomalous decoherence effect in a quantum bath.
Decoherence of quantum objects in noisy environments is important in quantum sciences and technologies. It is generally believed that different processes coupled to the same noise source have similar decoherence behaviors and stronger noises cause faster decoherence. Here we show that in a quantum bath, the case can be the opposite. We predict that the multitransition of a nitrogen-vacancy cent...
متن کاملScaling and Suppression of Anomalous Quantum Decoherence in Ion Traps
We measure and characterize anomalous motional decoherence of an atomic ion confined in the lowest quantum levels of a novel rf ion trap that features moveable electrodes. The scaling of decoherence rate with electrode proximity is measured, and when the electrodes are cooled from 300 K to 150 K, the decoherence rate is suppressed by an order of magnitude. This provides direct evidence that ano...
